Information about the Kraków - Zakopane connection
Kraków and Zakopane are connected by a route leading towards the Tatry and Podhale, popular with travellers heading to the mountains. Intercity and Pendolino trains run on this route, and some services operate without a change.
The journey from Kraków to Zakopane takes over an hour, and the timetable changes seasonally because additional trains towards the Tatry are added in winter. During long weekends and public holidays, these trains can be busier than on a normal weekday, so passengers using a statutory discount should check the availability of seats and select the document entitling them to the discount when buying their ticket on PolishTrains. In summer, the timetable returns to its basic version, so the differences between weekdays are smaller than in the winter season.
A full-fare ticket on this route usually costs from about PLN 20 to about PLN 55, with the purchase date being the main factor. A family travelling with a child or a passenger with a bicycle compares the prices of both categories on PolishTrains before choosing a service. Before travelling, the PolishTrains search engine shows the current price range for the selected day.
